An Interesting article appeared in the news yesterday - read here http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/health-36590769
General Practitioners (GP's) are saying that this initiative will reduce the amount of appointments taken up by persons who are clearly going to be unwell for longer than a week. They also say that persons should be trusted by their employers more , in a bid to reduce gp workload .
On the other side of the debate , the government have announced that they have no intention of changing the current statutory requirements and that the current practice of requiring a doctors note if you are going to be ill for longer than a week is reasonable and is mindful also of a gp's time constraints .
What do you think ?
I think this is a good subject for debate
It is proposed that employees should be able to self-certify illness for up to 14 days
