Our Commitment to Privacy
Your privacy is important to us. Other than the information you voluntarily publish on our site, you can use the Values Exchange and remain entirely private.
The Information We Collect
When you register we collect:
- Your First and Last Name
- Your Email address
If you wish you can enter a pseudonym and/or a false email address. You can also elect to be anonymous. We encourage Values Exchange users to attach their names to their views – but this is entirely voluntary.
Please be aware that the internet is essentially a public space. Anything you enter into any internet area has the potential to be seen by others. If you do not want your comments to be identifiable then please use a pseudonym.
No-one outside the Values Exchange owners and developers has access to your email address. As a Values Exchange user you do not have access to any other user’s email address.
Our Privacy Promise
We will keep all your details secure and private. This means that we will never give or sell your email address to anyone.
We will never reveal any of your personal details to anyone, except for the details you choose to publish yourself on the Values Exchange (in any case, these will be limited to your first and last name only, as registered by you).
We deliberately aim to keep what we know about you to a minimum. We ask only for your first and last names, basic demographic detail and an email address, so we are able to contact you – and of course we seek your views about the social issues for debate on the Values Exchange.
If any journalist or other outside person wishes to use any data in the VX public domain we respectfully ask that they request our permission. We will then ask the permission of any person whose comments they wish to report. If we or the person in question declines permission that data cannot be used, even if it is in the public domain.
Much of the data on this site are openly published, available to anyone who responds to issues. We reserve the right to collate trends from these data, with identifiers removed, and to provide reports on these trends to social and commercial organisations, so long as we are assured that these organisations are of an acceptable ethical calibre.
Membership of the VX Community itself does not require parental permission, however we strongly encourage young people to inform their parents and, if they wish, to invite their parents into the VX Community itself.
Because of the nature of the internet, people of any age can register on any site, including the most well-known social networks. We take the view that we would much rather have young people use their own VX Community than have to use sites that are not designed for them.
We state unequivocally that - apart from the use of avatars and pseudonyms - any person who uses the VX Community to present themselves as other than who they really are will be banned from the Community for life. At our discretion we may choose to invoke criminal or civil proceedings against any person breaching this condition. By using this website you unreservedly accept this condition.
Our Commitment to Data Security
To prevent unauthorized access, maintain data accuracy, and ensure the correct use of information, we have put in place appropriate physical, electronic, and managerial procedures to safeguard and secure the information we collect online.
